Melt Studio turned Zoptic's AI coaching assistant from an early prototype into a SaaS application — accounts, saved chat history, projects shared between coaches and admins, and a help center — as part of its pro-bono prototype program, for founder Brad.

Zoptic: an AI assistant for sports coaches

Zoptic is a sports technology and data company focused on athlete development and injury risk reduction. Its founder, Brad, built a coach-centric AI application: coaches ask questions about player development, and guided prompt "cards" and FAQs help coaches who are new to AI get useful answers from it.

The challenge: from an AI demo to a product coaches can sign into

The first version showed the idea working, but a demo isn't a product. To put it in front of paying coaches, Zoptic needed accounts, conversations that are saved and can be continued, a way for Brad to see and support each coach's work, and a clear sign that the AI is working on an answer — all on a backend that could grow.

The solution: a SaaS foundation for an AI coaching app

We standardized the backend first, then built the product around the AI:

• Accounts and saved history: conversations move from the browser to a real database (Supabase), so every chat is saved and can be continued.

• The AI experience: OpenAI-powered chat with the prompt cards coaches use, plus a visible "in progress" state while the AI answers.

• Projects: coaches organize their work into projects with their own chats, shared with the super admin.

• Super admin tools: Brad can see every user and their chats, join a conversation, and change a coach's permissions.

• A help center where coaches send questions with file attachments.

  
  

How a dedicated team built it across seven sprints

A developer, a project manager, and our technical lead in weekly sprints, with Brad testing each release and sending feedback that went straight into the next sprint. The final version was deployed to Zoptic's official app URL.

Results: an AI coaching app ready for its first users

• A SaaS application with accounts, saved chats, projects, and admin tools, live on Zoptic's app URL.

• Every issue from Brad's final review fixed and deployed.

• A defined next phase: Stripe payments so Brad can charge for the app, streaming AI responses, and a prompt manager so he can edit prompts without a developer.
